Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toniz Collins who is also known as Antonietta Gonzales-Collins in the US and Mexico, is an American Mexican sportscaster. She works as an ESPN news anchor and hosts SportsNation often. Since 2016, Collins has joined ESPN. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a journalist on television. Antonietta is bilingual since age nine. Her ability was crucial in helping her get her first position as production assistant for Univision Miami, where she assisted the production of shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. In St. Petersburg, she was employed to the CBS station as an sports reporter. After 2009, the reporter moved into Rio Grande Valley Texas where she worked for KNVO TV 48 Univision as and Fox2 News. Reporting on stories on drug trafficking and immigration from both sides of the Mexico-Texas border, she was reporter for news for KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 at 5 pm, as a reporter for news in English until 9pm, after which she became a news anchor until 10pm before returning back to the Spanish channel. In addition, she was used on occasion as a weather and sport anchor. Later, she was anchor and reporter at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She produced pieces about Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted her own local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was promoted to anchoring sports on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In the same capacity on the magazine program of the network Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins' grandparents were born in Veracruz Mexico. She was born November 22 the 22nd of November, 1985 in Mexico City. She also has a younger sibling. In 1992, the family relocated to Miami following the move from Mexico into the US. In 1992, her parents separated and shortly afterward in 1995 she got married again Fabio Fajardo, an engineer in the naval sector who died in 2006 from kidney cancer. It was during a time of summer when she was with her sister living in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had gotten the job. Antonietta still a senior at high school, yet she was clear about the career she wanted to pursue. So while assessing if Mount Union would be a good fit for her Antonietta visited the school. Then she was enthralled with the university. The university offered her an academic major. She graduated from school and was went to the university as a media studies major. Mark Bergmann - her professor - was also the director of WRMU (91.1 FM) which was where she felt at home. Her professor, Mark Bergmann, inspired her with his enthusiasm for journalism. He also deeply impacted her.
