Abraham senior was a member of Los Dinos, the band that started it all. Selena Y Los Dinos began to form in 1981. They continued to work toward becoming a winning family group. They would see their patience pay dividends in the 1980's when Selena Y Los Dinos gained notoriety in the western states. Selena was awarded the Female Vocalist award and the Performer's Year award at the Tejano Awards in 1986. From that point on Selena Y Los Dinos were one of the most successful winners each year and earned fame and recognition. They have appeared in many Spanish TV shows such as El Show De Johnny Canales - Siempre En Domingo, and Sabado Gigante.
